at least it's cooler for the slugs that are devouring my greens. The chickens are happy when I bring them their daily plate o'slugs. Are the beetles like lady bugs with no spots?

Sigh. As hot as it sounds there is as cold as it is here -- I have the heat on.

I was thinking about you because I think Andy bought Avett Bros. tickets this morning -- August 24 at the Oregon Zoo. I think the ABs have been playing every day around here for several months.

I'm hoping it will be warm in August, though it's hard to imagine. . . .

Wasn't there snow in May? And now it's just hot. Dang. We're having a very cool spring. I don't really personally mind. Everything will ripen late this year. I feel overwhelmed by my garden too.

take pictures of the bugs. I wanna see.

Looking forward to your garden photos. I planted my tomatoes so close together I won't be able to get in there to pick them! But I did sucker them waaaay up this year. A first for me. Do you plant okra? Next spring I am going to be more on top of things-earlier planning. You can still plant strawberries now-if you can find anyone with plants at this point-mulch HEAVY, they are a bitch to weed. Mine are really thin this year-3rd or 4th year for most of the plants. I am going to move the bed next year.

Ours are on. And we went swimming at a famous pond this afternoon, and the surface was scummed with yellow pollen. Needless to say, everyone took post-pond showers--especially the allergy girl!

Just came in to take a break for the same reason... and to think, tomorrow will be even more miserable! I'm glad that I'll have some pics from your garden to check out later tonight, at least.

By the way, I gave in and turned the A/C on, too. Between the sled dog and my own personal space heater--er, boyfriend--and the miserable looks on both of their faces yesterday afternoon, I couldn't say no. Tuesday, though, it's going right back off again!

You're such a trooper. I bet you'll be rolling in the bounty of your garden later this summer, though. You know, not literally rolling in it, but eating and canning and making others jealous and wishing they could be as industrious as you. :) We're bringing down our window A/C unit tonight, too. Last night was just too hot and muggy for the boy, even with a fan and a wet towel.
