Yet more Thanksgiving - Day 25
This weather! We’re having our Indian Summer at the end of November, and I’m so grateful. My Mom—the dynamo—has knocked down the rest of the leaves in the yard and raked it so hard it looks like it’s had a cut and style at a salon. Beautiful. I don’t know how she manages to make everything she touches look so neat and cared for, but I sure do appreciate it.
The kids have loved having my parents here for the week, endless attention and a break from the daily grinding routine. Four days off from work for me, and we’ve enjoyed quite a bit of domestic accomplishment. Hanging pictures (Chris with my input), making curtains (Mom with my input-and with my stupidity leaving an open pen on the fabric), cleaning (me).
I read one of the books on my list, Looking for Alaska by John Green. More on that later, suffice it to say that I cried a whole lot reading it in bed last night, and that I hope to Maude that I can write half that well.

"All through the long winter, I dream of my garden. On the first day of spring, I dig my fingers deep into the soft earth. I can feel its energy, and my spirits soar."
