10 things I’d rather be doing
1. Getting the garden manured and mulched.
2. Planting garlic.
3. Baking Rosemary Olive Oil Bread.
4. Holding my new nephew.
5. Cranking out novel pages.
6. Running 5 miles a day.
7. Helping my mom paint her house.
8. Making love.
9. Dinner with friends.
10. Anything but this.

"Autumn is the eternal corrective. It is ripeness and color and a time of maturity; but it is also breadth, and depth, and distance. What man can stand with autumn on a hilltop and fail to see the span of his world and the meaning of the rolling hills that reach to the far horizon?"

I know! CONFLICT!
I like my job, mostly, but I detest the time that’s asked of me.

Here, here!
(second reaction: Oh, crap. Is it time to plant garlic too? In addition to the perennial flowers still sitting in the nursery pots in my front yard? And the flower bulbs — oh, the bulbs? Oh, I just got it. Garlic’s a bulb. Crap!)
I vote for moving No. 8 up higher on the list — makes No. 10 a little easier to deal with.

That is one hell of a fine list! Does it make me a loser woman to think that number 3 sounds better than number 8?

So have you started a novel, for real? (Or does that question just make you want to punch me?)

. . . ahhh, the joys of cubicle land . . . i’d rather be ‘living’, too . . .

Oy. That list is reminding me of everything I’d like to be doing as well. I hope you get time/energy to squeeze in something pleasant here and there.
