Divorce! Re-Marriage! Blended Families! Oh My!
There’s one topic I haven’t touched on much in my writing, mainly because it involves other people and I feared it would be hard to do in a way that would keep already hurt feelings from being hurt more. But I recently put together an application for one of those paid blogger positions at Club Mom, with the idea to blog about living after divorce in a blended family. It’s a circumstance that directs my life every day. The fact of my choosing to divorce and remarry, to have another child and to move to another state is the foundation that my family life sits on. It has also shaped Tyler’s father’s life in ways I can’t ever really know.
In coming up with sample posts, I started an engaging conversation with myself, and the old, crippling judgments and fears of talking about this part of my life melted away. A lot of topics came to mind, and I’ve been keeping a growing list. Now every time I sit down to write, my fingers itch to get that conversation going with all of you.
I’m sure a half a million Moms Who Blog sent in applications and poor Meredith Vieira & Andrew Shue & Co. have an unmanageable amount of words to slog through to get to their decisions. I have no expectations. If I don’t get the job I intend to write about it with some regularity on this site. On the more than off-chance that I do get the job? Well, I’ll need five posts a week, so, you won’t be reading about it here. But that will also mean that I’m getting paid to blog, which is a beautiful thing. I think.

Well, if you don’t get it, we can have our own little club — because there’s no way I’m getting it. Every idea I hear sounds better than mine, but I figured if I didn’t apply then it was just going to be a self-fulfilling prophecy. Gotta at least try, even if it means laughing at yourself a lot later.
